Apartment Movers
If you live in an apartment and your thinking of moving you may want to enlist the help of some apartment movers. This is a new type of service created by cheap moving companies to highlight the how cost effective it can be to use their services. I have only heard of this been done in a few states and I don’t think it is a very wide spread idea as of yet, but I feel it may catch on.
If you live in an apartment and your are pressed for time, or just don’t feel like moving, then the apartment movers can be your answer. They are essentially just a furniture removals and /or house moving company with a twist. Instead of charging per hour (as most company do) they will come in and give you a quote per item. This can be great for a small apartment with only a few large items.
Apartments generally only consist of a sofa, a few arm chairs, a bed or two, maybe a desk, and limited amount of shelving and other items. This is not a large amount of furniture by any means. Especially compared to a house which can have tree or four times the amount of furniture/items.
An “apartment mover” will come to your apartment and give you a quick quote based on the item you have. Then on moving day they will come in and pack-up your items (for a small extra charge) and move your whole apartment to your new location all for set price. This can save a lot of money when compared to the usual per hour billing of other normal moving companies.
This type of scheme is great because the shipping company can easily calculate in advance how much it will cost to move your apartment. You wont be surprised with any large bills at the end of the day.
This is not recommended to do on a large scale. If you got an apartment mover to do this for a large sized house the pricing structure may cost more than if you moved the house with per hour billing. This kind of service is suited to people who like to know in advance what the costs will be, and because they are not moving a large amount items the fractional extra cost is bearable. As opposed to a large house where this type of pricing structure could be costly.
